Torque ripple and mechanical vibrations have been a major barrier for Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). The paper proposes a method to reduce the torque ripple using sense coil. Excitation coil and sense coil are placed on stator poles to measure the instantaneous inductance and to eliminate the need for a speed sensor. The reference current for stator phases that minimizes the torque ripple is computed based on instantaneous inductance. The signal processing of sense coil measurements and the speed loop control of SRM is implemented on SoC FPGA. © 2020 IEEE.
