Abstract
Movement is a result of complex interaction between neural and musculoskeletal systems. Realistic movement modeling demands integration between models of both these systems. The NEUROiD (NEUROmotor integration and Design) platform allows systematic and structured integration of component models to create a neuromotor system. Supporting integration of existing models from both neural and musculoskeletal domains allows us to build upon the advances in both these domains over the past couple of decades. The exact role of cortical areas in movement control in humans is not clear. We use NEUROiD model (comprising of spinal and musculoskeletal components) to obtain a functionally equivalent model of cortical areas using machine learning techniques. Clinical areas that could benefit from NEUROiD models are briefly discussed. © 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
