Tailoring the Fano resonances in terahertz metamaterials

Abstract
We report the passive as well as active modulation of the sensitive Fano resonances in terahertz asymmetric metamaterial structures. The strength of the Fano resonances can be completely switched off passively by changing the asymmetry of the structures and also actively by shininh the sample with very low pump powers. These devices can be used as ultrasensitive sensors, low threshold modulators and ultrafast switches in real world device based applications. © 2016 IEEE.
