In this paper, we consider a single user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) wireless communication system with non-linear pre-equalization at the transmitter and linear post-processing filter at the receiver. We formulate the problem of selecting the processing matrices using Tomlinson Harashima precoding (THP) at the transmitter with linear post-processing at the receiver and the processing matrices that maximize the per-stream signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) turn out to be the linear beamforming matrices. There is no transmit power penalty as the feedback matrix that optimizes instantaneous SNR of all data streams is found to be the identity matrix. The maximum SNR of each data stream is same as that of linear beamforming technique. © 2017 IEEE.
