Abstract
Tin oxide nanowires were used as anode materials for lithium ion batteries. A specific capacity of 2700 mA-hr/g was achieved which is much higher compared to the theoretical capacity of 770 mA-hr/g. These materials were evaluated for their cyclability and stability. Along with SnO2, other metal oxide nanowires including tungsten trioxide and niobium pentoxide were used as anode materials. Their capacities and stablity were studied to identify them as potential anode materials. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake, UT 11/4-9/2007).
