Abstract
Conceptual processes of direct and twostep HDO is designed using Karanja oil as feedstock. Maximum energy recovery using pinch methodology has been done. Heat exchange network has been designed for both the processes. Heat recovery within the system with the use of pinch analysis has reduced the utility consumption in the process. Thereby, reducing the production cost of green diesel significantly. Economic analysis for modified processes with heat exchange network was evaluated. Capital, operating expenses, production cost of green diesel is estimated. Feedstock cost plays key role in reducing the cost of the diesel. If reduced, drastic decline in the cost can be observed. Discounted cash flow analysis was used to find the minimum selling price of green diesel. Copyright © (2018) by AIChE. All Rights Reserved.
