Abstract
Influence of nitrogen content and percentage of prior rolling deformation on evolution of grain boundary character distribution in 316L(N) stainless steel, during grain boundary engineering type thermo-mechanical processing, have been studied in the present work. 10% rolling deformation followed by annealing produces highest fraction of low energy Σ3 boundaries and high fraction of low energy grain boundary network in high nitrogen SS, leading to improved corrosion resistance. © 2021 Elsevier B.V.
