Abstract
A macrocyclic furanobutenolide was crafted from readily available furan building-blocks to set-up a transannular Diels-Alder reaction which delivered the carbocyclic core present in a class of cembranoid diterpene natural products. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
